Let’s talk about who you want to be. You have big dreams. You have desires. You know that your life could be the everything that you want it to be, if you could just figure out how to get there.
Here’s the deal, you can be all that and more. You can get what you want, you can become the person you most want to be and you don’t have to be the most naturally talented to get there. But here’s the hardcore dirty secret you may not want to deal with – Everything is Up to You. You decide how successful you’re going to be.
Did you know that the people who are successful aren’t necessarily the most talented? There’s a ton of talented people out there who are going to be content sitting back and living a perfectly comfortable and medium grade life, while getting passed over by people who are willing to do what it takes.
That’s good news for all the rest of us, that someone’s tenacity and guts and drive are the biggest factor in being successful. The bad news, you have no one else to blame. You’re gonna have to step up and decide.
It’s time to Level Up. No excuses. No, well I don’t have blah, blah, blah, so I can’t. If you want to do it, you’ll do it. It’s as simple as that. But how are you going to go from regular you to Up Leveled you?
Let’s start with your mindset. What you believe is important to your success. Prepare yourself to get in the proper headspace to be a Leveled Up bitch.
Develop a Growth Mindset
According to Carol Dweck, Stanford professor and the author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, having a growth mindset is why some talented people reach their potential, while others don’t. What is a growth mindset? Unlike a fixed mindset, people with a growth mindset believe their talents and abilities can be developed. When you have a fixed mindset you believe your basic qualities – intelligence, talents and abilities are finite and fixed.
Growth mindset people though realize they can change, adapt and learn. They know with enough work and adaptation and messing around they can get unstuck from whatever starter level they find themselves. The growth mindset means you’re not afraid of how you look, how smart you are, if a challenge is going to show how much you don’t know. These people see challenges as exciting, giving you a new chance to grow.
Adapt your growth mindset now! Understand if you suck at something currently that doesn’t mean you’ll always suck at it. You know that with enough jimmy jiggering you have the ability to get what you want.
Time to take 100% responsibility for your life
I know, how can it be possible for you to take all the responsibility for your life when other people, circumstances and whatnot are conspiring against you?
You decide. Your life is 100% up to you. You are the Captain of your Ship. You are not a victim. You’re in charge. Successful people ditch the victim mentality and know that what happens in their life is up to them. I can’t stress this enough, everything that happens is up to you. It’s easy to blame not getting what you want on other people or being miserable on a crappy co-worker or your bad attitude on your parents who didn’t buy you that bike when you were little. But honey, drop that mentality right now. If you want to be successful you take responsibility. Once you accept that you are in charge of your life, that you decide your mindset, your attitude, your life.
You Own This
When you first start trying to level up it can be easy to feel like a fraud or someone who has no freaking clue what they’re doing. Level up, bitch, raise your frequency and get in the mindset of someone who’s already successful.
It’s the ole fake it till you make it. People who are vibing success and confidence are the kind of people who attract that same level. Madonna acted like Madonna before she became Madonna, if you know what I mean. She was already strutting around the clubs, dressed in her Madonna wear, acting like she owned the place and she became Madonna. Coincidence? No.
So come in with the mindset that you’ve already accomplished what you’re setting out. Be confident. Be bold. Honestly, who would you rather buy from, someone who’s certain in their product, who knows how much it’s going to benefit you and who believes in it 100%? Or someone who isn’t quite sure whether or not it’s going to work, who has no real confidence in what’s happening or how it’s going to help? If it’s not the first one, please check yourself immediately.
That doesn’t mean you have to go around bragging about how awesome you are, that’s actually a sign that you’re not confident enough. (Anyone who’s ever been out on a date with a guy who brags about how much money he makes knows this is true.) But when you have the mindset that you’ve already succeeded, it helps you radiate confidence, which is a major turn on.
Here’s the thing – No one’s going to believe in you if you can’t believe in yourself. It’s that simple. So remember who you are, a badass who radiates success and knows what she’s capable of accomplishing.
Prepare Yourself to get Uncomfortable
Here’s a hard truth for you – if you want to Level Up, you may have to get uncomfortable. No, not may, will. The fact is, most people gain success because they’re willing to do the things most of us don’t want to do.
We love the easy. We get so comfortable in our routine, doing the same thing day in and day out. Growing and changing and stretching are uncomfortable, thank you. But for real success, real growth, you’re gonna have to embrace the uncomfortable. If you want to get what you’ve never had, you’ve got to be willing to do what you’ve never done. That’s a quote I’ve heard a million times, you know why? Because it’s true.
You’ll have to put yourself out there. You’ll have to be willing to do those extra things that elevate people from good enough to great. And in the process you’ll probably have to do things you’re not used to doing. Ugh, I know! But the you that knows you’ve already got the goods, that knows you can grow and change is going to embrace this. You can do it, I promise.
Start working on your success mindset now. Because the first step is believing. If you don’t believe in yourself, then you’re handicapping yourself from the start. That doesn’t mean you’re 100% positive all the time. It means you understand you can grow the skills to get the job done, that you’re in charge of your own life, that you have the goods and knowing that you’re willing to do what it takes (even if it feels weird for a bit!) to get the job done.
